I've seen from a couple of sources today that Lexmark are going to stop making inkjet printers. Since they were one of the first companies to use the chip technology that makes it really difficult to refill cartridges, and their cartridges were bloody expensive, I don't think I'll mourn much; however, it might be a different story if I'd just spent a ton of money on one and now found out that they'll be dropping them (and presumably support) real soon now.

Can't help wondering what will happen with their lasers now - they haven't said anything about dropping that side of the business, but they don't exactly stand out as a market leader in terms of price, value for money, quality, or any other measure that immediately comes to mind.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I've rarely felt as ripped off in life as I did over my Lexmark inkjet printer.

Same here - had one for a few months, it was a nicely-built printer but ate cartridges.

The scanner on mine was excellent. But yeah, having to throw away ink cartridges that were still half full just because the chip had decided it was game over, criminal business practice.
