It started in '71 with Superman #233, and Clark remained a TV anchor until Crisis in '86, I believe.

Didn't he leave the Planet to be an editor at a different newspaper at one point? But that turned out to conflict too much with his superhero stuff and had to go back to the Planet? I'm not sure when this happened, just remember reading about it in a Lois & Clark-themed graphic novel.
