So I got another bike...
Nov. 7th, 2012 07:27 pmNeedless to say it isn't a scooter - I just couldn't force myself to like the idea. Instead I got a 1993 BMW R80RT, similar to my last R80 but with the full touring fairing, windshield, and better brakes and suspension - also somewhat newer and with much lower mileage, and in very good condition. I need to get an alarm/immobiliser fitted; insurance is hideously expensive without it, and it will pay for itself in a couple of years. I managed to get the price down considerably by spotting a couple of small defects which will be fixed before I pay the balance, so I'm feeling reasonably happy. I've put a deposit on it tonight, hopefully I'll be able to collect it at the end of next week.
Since it's scarlet I'm tentatively calling it Big Red (not necessarily a Hellboy reference) - I'll have to see if its personality suits that when I've been riding it for a while.
Here's a preview:
