Westminster's idiot wardens issued me with two more parking tickets today, despite it being more than a week since my residents permit was transferred to the new bike. I am somewhat less than amused...
It isn't a good idea to display the permit on a bike -it isn't required and it would be too easy to steal - but I'm going to stick a printed sticker below the license plate saying that it's on residential permit no. xxx which covers all motorcycle bays.
Well, at least you have a machine to be ticketed. I must have told you the story of the five years or so in the late nineties where I was regularly getting parking tickets without actually owning a motor vehicle.
I'd have thought their system, as soon as they put in the license plate, would ping back and say this person has a permit. But that's probably too much common sense right there.
Not me. I did once get a door-to-door energy company asking me why I wasn't taking advantage of the offer of getting both gas and electricity from the same supplier. And once some workmen rang the doorbell to tell me that they were temporarily cutting off the gas to fit a new main, as was detailed in the letter I should have received. But as I don't have a gas supply, I wasn't sent the letter. They actually asked to come in to check and pointed out that the gas inlet had not been properly capped, hence a smell in the cupboard under the stair, so they dug up the pipe back to the main, which meant they kindly dug my front garden for me (and got rid of the smell).
