The old posting page, which I greatly preferred, is no longer working for me. Has Livejournal pulled the plug on it completely? What are other people getting? And why the hell doesn't it show me my most recent entries after posting or editing, as the old version did?

Yep, they've killed the old posting page. Being redirected directly to the post is apparently a feature, not a bug.

Pretty much.

But their official line is that "complaints will not be accepted" and "they'll get used to it", so...

You noticed how they've started hiding the links to news posts and updates? So that they don't get thousands and thousands of people complaining anymore.

How are they hiding them?

I used to be able to click on the 'My LJ' link, and it would take me a webpage with a summary of all the recent posts I'd made, recent comments, and a box with a listing of all of the recent LJ Admin and news posts where I could catch up with how many thousands of complaints their latest nonsense had generated. But on my layout at least, that box with links to all of their admin posts has gone now, and I have to do a bit more digging to find them.

Plus the official LJ news journal now has all comments disabled by default.

Yep. At some point, they realised that when they posted news on [livejournal.com profile] news, not only did people insist on complaining, but people noticed that they weren't the only ones complaining and that a lot of people were pissed off at LJ. So they started posting updates to [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases instead. When people learned about that, they started posting updates to [livejournal.com profile] livejournal instead, where they can happily disable comments since it's not an "official" news channel.

Their goal seems to be to get zero complaints. Which they'll achieve about the same time as they have zero users.

It's a very sort of... well, Russian way of handling dissent. Simply to silence it, and otherwise pretend it doesn't exist.

I was thinking there hadn't been any news in a while, that would explain it.

I see my prediction about the livejournal advisory board also came true, it vanished without a trace!

Gracious, I'd forgotten all about that. Wasn't there supposed to be advisory board meetings and all sorts of things?

At a tangent, the leave a comment page for your journal here as I type this in has completely changed from how it looked yesterday.

Have you redesigned, or have LJ changed something else?

I've been messing around with the style, trying to find a new one I can live with. This is the best I've got so far.

I still see the old one, having opted for it

ETA - Um, that was earlier in the week. Today I don't, though at least comment posting page is still the same.

TBH I tend to post from Dreamwidth and let it be crossposted now

Same thing happened here - the second that it finished "beta testing" e.g. they decided they could handle the volume of complaints they were going to get, they must have pulled the plug on it.
