I had presupporting membership for the Finnish bid, but Spokane won. Does anyone know if the pre-support translates to some sort of discount on Spokane membership? I doubt it, but if so, I'll probably want to sell my membership to someone who will be able to go - I really don't think I can do it.

Later: Found their web site - it hasn't been updated since the vote, but it looks like they are only giving a discount if you presupported them and voted in the site selection this year. That would appear to be a "no" then. I'm surprised that they aren't giving a discount if you presupported them but didn't vote, I'm pretty sure London did.

While I do mock them, the temperate deserts out there are something to see and there's some interesting stuff between them and civilization (Seattle).

Simply can't afford a US con any time soon - Finland would have been comparatively cheap.

Presupporting a losing bid by itself is lost money, effectively although you can console yourself that your money helped support the bid as it was meant to.

Site selection voting gets you an automatic supporting membership discount on the winning bid. If you presupported THAT bid you usually get a further discount on full membership. Sometimes a Friend of the bid (which costs more) gets you a "free ride" full membership depending on the committee's decision.

Oh well, I would have liked to have gone to Finland, but I suppose I can't complain if that doesn't translate to getting me anything from Spokane. There's apparently a big Finnish con anyway, I might do that one of these years.
