I've just found the volume of The Strand Magazine containing Doyle's "The Horror of the Heights" on line - with four illustrations, three in colour.

https://archive.org/stream/TheStrandMagazineAnIllustratedMonthly/TheStrandMagazine1913bVol.XlviJul-dec#page/n563/mode/2up

It appears to have been scanned by Google, who unfortunately did a crap job on the colour pages - moire effects everywhere. I've run into this problem many times, and it's easily fixed if you try different scanner resolutions etc. while scanning the pages, a total pig to fix afterwards. Unless someone has a good technique for fixing this sort of thing???

Here, anyway, are the images cleaned up as much as I can, with the captions etc. added in by me since they were virtually unreadable as scanned. This is probably the best I can do (unless someone can find me a copy of Volume 46 of the Strand Magazine, of course.)

And here's a link to the (unillustrated) version on my web site

Very Cthulhu looking critters. I'll have to read this one again. Thanks Marcus!
