It must be incredibly dangerous having a pacemaker in the Harry Dresden universe - spend much time in the vicinity of a wizard and it will probably burn out or explode.
Unless possibly there's a corollary to the threshold principle involved in the electronics being underneath your skin, such that you just don't want wizards involved when actually having one replaced. Hearing aids, though, would need frequent replacement if friends with one.
I mean, I assume that the weakening that takes place whenever a wizard crosses a threshold uninvited applies to *all* magical effects, including the electronics gremlin fritz thing. It would seem weird if they could still do on an involuntary basis what they'd have trouble doing with a concerted effort of will.
that's certainly a possibility, but the idea of the wizards accidentally killing complete strangers randomly seems like it might make an interesting story.
I've learned today that Jim Butcher will be one of the guests of honour at next year's Eastercon, I'l have to ask him then.
