...was pretty good, although most of the plot elements were recycled from previous new Who stories. The new dynamic between the Doctor and Clara looks interesting, and although the story was mostly set up to introduce the new Doctor's personality etc., it worked reasonably well, and brought back everyone's favourite Victorians. At the end we have a "new" character whom I suspect may be someone we've seen before - The Master in her first female regeneration. The looniness, glee etc. seemed right for the character, and it's the ship the fans have wanted for a LONG time. I suspect it will not end well...

And next week there are Daleks!

Yes, there are Daleks

And truth be told, I'd rather we didn't. They could do with a rest for a season or two.

But I'd rather have Daleks than no Doctor.

Yessss... I wondered why the new Scottish lady at the end was dancing around the fountain in quite that manner, until it clicked, that was exactly how the Master danced around things, waving his hands. I think she was mimicing the last actors physical performance to give us a clue as to who this mystery lady was. The Master... is now the Mistress...

Has to be. Surely. If it's not, and it's some random bint, I'm going to be terribly disappointed.

Good call on our new lady friend.
Her set looked almost like Bristol Colonnade in The Village, it wasn't, spot PM is one of my sekrit superpowers (along with spot Alan Garner).

I'd sooner they got it over with early, then we won't be waiting for them to turn up through the rest of the series.

Boring plot recycled from other, better, episodes, but I've liked Capaldi for almost 30 years and I didn't stop now.

And she even calls herself Missy. That might be interesting. Though I'm not sure I want Moffat writing a female villain...

Steven Moffat does love his mysterious women. :)

My one real complaint is that I had difficulty in making out a lot of the dialogue, the Doctor himself being a major offender. I'm not sure if the main culprit was over-loud background music, poor diction by Peter Capaldi or the effect of increasing age on my hearing. Next week I may have to switch on the subtitles.

It's a guess, but I'm hoping I'm right.

I may be completely wrong, but it feels plausible.

Know what you mean, it did seem a bit muffled sometimes.
