Can't remember if I've mentioned this before - the micro USB bluetooth dongles sold by Poundland appear to be fully Mac compatible, at least with the G4 and G5 chipsets. So if you have an elderly Mac with USB but without bluetooth, this is a pretty cheap way to fix it, and the adapter is so tiny it can be left in place all the time, even on a laptop.

I thought I would ask--a friend has an older Mac, running 10.4 (he won't upgrade; he says it will get rid of all his programs). Well, his inkjet printer died. Any suggestions for finding him a compatible one, or is there a driver patch out there for newer models?

Is that because all the old programs were for PowerPC and not Intel ? Yep, later versions are intel only and don't really emulate the old g4 g5 properly.

Ffutures: amazing what you can get in poundland

Not sure. His comment to me was "The old Word is much better" and "So is the old Photoshop". He may just have to get another computer to handle anything made after 2005. :-)

Most should be compatible - just check the web sites to make sure there's Apple support. I've used Canon, Ricoh, and HP lasers without problems, and an HP inkjet.

He's not entirely wrong - I'm taking my iBook G4 to the games con today, not the Intel Macbook, because the screen is bigger and a better format for presentations, and the thing is built like a tank.

Also it runs the PPC version of PowerPoint, and I don't have the Intel version yet, and a shedload of games etc. that don't exist in Intel versions.

Sorry - I should have said 10.4 support, some crapper ones are intel only but the good manufacturers do both.

Quality of a lot of their stuff isn't wonderful, but these pods seem to be OK.
