The latest on Farage, for anyone who hasn't heard - His resignation has been rejected by UKIP so he's staying on as head of the party. I wonder who exactly rejected it, and if his or her surname happens to be Farage...

"Dear Nigel,

I'm shocked. How can you of all people think of leaving at a time like this? I mean, yeah, sure, we've had a bit of a setback, but now's the time to get back on the horse, chum! At least we got three times as many votes as the bloody Greens. If they'd managed to bring in that proportional representation crap they're always banging on about we'd be laughing!

Think again, mate. It's more important than ever that we keep on fighting to make sure the wrong sort of people don't bugger up this fair land of ours, and you're absolutely vital to that struggle. We've known each other a long time, and you know, no-one has a higher opinion of your abilities than I do. Don't let us down now.

I've returned your resignation letter. As you can see I've torn it up. A word to the wise, me old mucker--stick it out and there might be something in it for you personally if you know what I mean. Dave's majority's as thin as a foreign condom and he's going to need you more than ever now to make him look good. So let's have no more of this nonsense, eh? Okay, you're not an MP any more? That's great! No more bloody constituents wasting your time! You can focus all your energies on the country as a whole. Frankly, there are lots of people worse off than us, and it's our job to keep it that way.

We're all behind you, chum, and me most of all!

Yours aye,
Nigel."

Ha. :) Yes, it would be interesting to know the mechanism there wouldn't it. Everybody who has quit UKIP has said the reason they quit is because Farage runs it like a dictatorship.

And this 'UKIP Membership' who rejected his resignation sure did get together fast and hold a ballot.

I wonder if he'll release details of that ballot...

One man, one vote? He is that man and he has that vote! :-)

And I'm reasonably certain the UKIP collective as a whole was going into a state of shock at the idea that a WOMAN was almost in charge of things.

Fie Sir! Are you so jaded as to believe such scurrilous rumour mongering! Shame on you! He's a man of the people! A more honest upright, nay noble mortal soul has rarely...

Oh, no, sorry, he's disgusting slimy vermin with the soul of a cabbage and the morals of a rabid weasel isn't he, yeah (apologies to any actual rabid weasels who might be reading). Sorry, carry on.

That sort of thing doesn't seem to bother the Front Nationale. . . .

In my cynical moments I wonder if that's because the fascists realised that if they want to seize power again they have to look nothing at all like the historical fascists, and what better way to achieve that goal than to be lead by a woman.
