I've been archiving a whole bunch of stories that were written (very quickly) for the Twisting the Hellmouth forum games over the last few weeks. Some of them are worth reading, I suppose...

The "Short but Sweet" one is amazing. Undoubtedly the funniest 9-word story that I've ever seen.

It cheats, of course, by assuming that the reader knows all about the characters. I'd love to write one that short that worked with the reader knowing nothing about the characters, as in e.g. Frederic Brown's story (forget the title) that read in its entirity "The last man on earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock at the door"

I didn't understand that Frederic Brown story for many years, and I still don't think that it's anything like as clever as it is regarded, because it just seems such a natural assumption that it's the last woman on Earth knocking on the door. Probably to ask how much longer he's going to be because she wants to use the bathroom too.
