Except this time the author is actually involved, loves what they're doing and serving as an Executive Producer. I think it looks gorgeous, can't believe it's MTV doing it.

It does seem odd taht it's on MTV.

I hope they don't do that thing where they interrupt the story to flash up info-bars on what songs are playing and where you can buy it.

Terry Brooks said they made the best pitch. From what it sounds like, they hit all the buttons he was looking for from people who wanted to adapt it.

It's possible I do, yeah. I think when an author's involved though, and happy with what's happening, that's a good sign. Terry Goodkind really disliked what they did with Legend of the Seeker, he made a mistake and had no control over the show's vision. On the other side, George RR Martin made sure to be involved and look at Game of Thrones. Terry Brooks' involvement in the Shannara series means I am pretty into whatever they make (though, I do admit, I like Legend of the Seeker. I was perfectly willing to be happy with an AU storyline as they did with the show). Plus, that trailer is gorgeous. Now it's just to see how the story and actors are (but they've got some pretty good ones. Manu Bennett, John Rhys-Davies..)

My problem with John Rhys-Davies is he does kinda bring the cheese to the table too often.


Interestingly George Martin has confirmed he had very little to do with the latest season of Game Of Thrones, and has actually distanced himself a bit from what they did.

There are some shows where I wish they'd do that, especially where they're playing a piece of classical music I know I know but can't name.

I was re-watching the film Walkabout recently and hadn't noticed before that part of the soundtrack is Stockhausen's Hymnen.

I'm sure I heard about an app that could do that, if you were watching something and wanted to know what the music was, the app would listen to it for you and identify it.

Truly, we live in the future.
