If eBay have offered to let you use Click and Collect when you sell on ebay be VERY careful. If you offer free collection in person as one of the options, they will add "click and collect" (which is free to the buyer, but the seller has to send the item) automatically. I've just listed three items then discovered it'd been added, and had to remove it from all of them. I've now disabled this option - I'm thinking seriously about disabling the Global Shipping Programme too, it's VERY expensive for the customer and I don't want to use it for most items.

I disabled global shipping programme for all my listings, as you say, ti's VERY expensive for the buyer, and they're more likely to give you negative feedback on shipping costs as a result.

Cheeky of Ebay to add click and collect though. I had click and collect added to my listings, but only the BiNs with free postage already attached to them. So only listings where I'd added the postage into the asking price and offered it 'free'. So I'm not out of pocket if I have to post somethign to the buyer, or to Argos.

So far Global Shipping is a PITA, but I suspect there may be occasional large / heavy / expensive items where it's worth using, so I don't want to opt out completely.

Well not even then, it's a third party shipper who just sits between buyer and seller and passes the parcel on and takes a cut for doing so.

I honestly can't see the point of them. Other than the day when Ebay state that the Global Shipping partner is mandatory.

We'll have to see. I'm a bit torn because some items I've bought from e.g. the USA seemed to be cheaper coming via the program than offerings from other companies.

Also, the customs thing is a big plus if you're buying something from outside Europe that has VAT; a lot simpler than the "Collect from the post office and pay the VAT plus a £10 handling fee" alternative.
