Well, judging by this trailer the new one (a reboot, of course) won't be worth watching either

Talk about cliche city!

It looks pretty dreadful doesn't it.

This series really didn't need a reboot.

I think we're in "use the franchise or lose it" territory, as with the SpiderMan reboot.

Could be.

I've never even managed to sit through one of the FF movies so far. I found them just achingly awful.

Comics are pretty cliche. It looks interesting enough I'll probably watch the movie when it hits the Dollar theater.

The trouble is that you can directly match most of the shots in it to scenes from e.g. The Avengers, Iron Man, Batman Begins, Spider Man etc., so even the look of it seems worn out. See e.g. the part where Doom is first seen which is VERY reminiscent of Thanos in Avengers.

Looks like Roger Corman's version will keep its title as Least Ridiculous FF4 Movie. Which is saying something.

Not many people have, which isn't surprising as it was just made to retain the rights and was never intended to be released anywhere (it's only available as a pirate download). They just never told the actors, who overacted their litte hearts out, so it does have some charm. Also, it seems to have the exact same plot as the new one, except it only wasted a couple of thousand bucks on it. (There's even a Buffy connection - Mercedes McNab plays Sue Storm as a kid.)

What looked interesting to me about the trailers I've seen is that it seems to be going for the horror-and-weird feel of the very first issues of Fantastic Four, which is a departure from the superhero formula as long established (including their own comic book starting after the first few issues).

Maybe I missed that vibe somehow, it just felt cliched to me.

Curious. It kind of jumped out at me from the first trailer. TVTropes links to an interview with the director (http://collider.com/the-fantastic-four-movie-details-josh-trank/) that claims this was the intent, though of course he may not be a reliable witness. At this point I'm planning to see it in the theater, so I'll find out soon enough, I guess.
