I managed to spill some coffee into my Macbook Pro's keyboard. Did my best to clean it from the outside but some of the keys aren't working and I suspect won't after it dries out. It worked OK with an external keyboard, but it looks like dismantling this model to get at the keyboard requires gutting the computer completely, and is seriously difficult. I think that the best thing I can do is probably going to be take it to one of the local computer shops after the bank holiday and get a quote, then see if my insurance covers it.

If not, I have a feeling that this is going to be VERY expensive.

Bugger - at least my laptop wasn't in line of fire when I spilt mine yesterday, and the fridge and cooker are less easily damaged.

I can't believe I was that stupid - it was a tall narrow cup and I just caught it with my arm and knocked it right onto the keyboard.

Oh, bah.

Macs are wonderful, but trying to self-service them (we did that years ago for my Powerbook) is a pain and a half, and of course, getting them fixed is expensive as hell. I hope that your insurance covers it for you!

My old iBook had a removable keyboard you could replace very easily. The MacBook Pro version of that means pretty much gutting the computer to get at the keyboard. Not my idea of progress.
