The bargain lens that seemed too good to be true... turns out to be too good to be true. It's from the 35mm era, and Sigma got things wrong when they reverse-engineered Canon's designs. What this means, unfortunately, is that it ought to be fine on a 35mm body (Still waiting for batteries to confirm that) and will auto-focus on a digital body, but aperture control won't work on digital bodies unless Sigma did a modification which is no longer available. I didn't notice this when I tried it a couple of days ago, because I was concentrating on autofocus, but came across the info while looking for reviews and have just been to another CEX shop to check on one of their bodies. Unfortunately it's true.

I should still be able to sell it, and will probably make a little profit, but I can turn off the flashing £££££££ signs. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted...

Meanwhile the other G4 laptop has sold for £30, which is all profit, so things could be a lot worse.

later - and the iPaq outfit just sold for £22

later - except that I've just been asked to cancel the sale - the account holder says that the bid was placed by his eight year old daughter without permission. At 11.31 PM...

That should be in feedback. "Order was cancelled after sale with the excuse that a child had placed the order without permission at 11:30 in the evening."

Not worth the hassle - it hasn't cost me anything apart from a few minutes of my time, so unless he leaves me inappropriate feedback I'm going to ignore it.
