High turnout

I went to vote before going in to work today, since I'm going out tonight. Last time I was there around 7.45 and there was a queue of three or four at most. This time I got there at eight and there was a line of 20-30 people across the hall and out into the lobby. Fortunately it doesn't take long to show your poll card and get the ballot papers, and I was still out within ten minutes or so, so I wasn't late for work.

I don't know if this is actually significant - the difference in time may be the main factor - but it looks encouraging for a high turnout, which ought to be a good thing.

Windows tablet

A while ago I posted about a Windows CE internet tablet that Maplins were selling for (I think) 65 quid. They now have them refurbished at £49.99, still with a year's warranty, and it appears that it's possible to use a free package called Miopocket to add a LOT of functionality.

I've decided that I'm going to give it a try - they seem to be selling on ebay at around the £50 mark, so if it doesn't pan out I hopefully won't be too much out of pocket. Wish me luck!
