Not the result I was hoping for...
Dec. 13th, 2019 09:22 amGloom and doom all round except for the Brexiteers - even Boris is probably worried right now, because he's painted himself into a horrible corner and can't blame it on anyone else when it all goes wrong (though I'm sure he'll try).
I think that this is the first time I haven't stayed up for hours watching the election news as it comes in, largely because I needed to be up early today and also because I was guessing that I probably wouldn't like the results.
About my only consolation is that my current (Labour) MP held her seat, although her majority has slipped - interestingly, almost entirely towards the Lib Dems, with the Conservative vote falling nearly as much. Tiny gains for the greens, but too small a share of the vote to be useful, and new Brexit and Christian People's Alliance candidates pulling in 1% and 0.3% of the vote - I don't think they had candidates last time.
Corbyn is apparently saying he won't lead Labour into another election but will stay on for now - I presume that means his successor will be chosen at the next Labour Party conference, if he doesn't resign before then.
