Another Revival - The Esoterrorists

The first time I saw this I said: This one interests me a lot, and it's a game system that is VERY highly regarded, but as usual I have to stress that one of the reasons I see this stuff is that I get freebies. I'm not the one who has to spend the money, but I think it's well worth a look if you like this type of game. Since then I've delved into it to some extent, and I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of the game system; it's playable, but doesn't click with me somehow. This seems to be a fairly common comment - people like the ideas but often aren't huge fans of the Gumshoe system. This may be because I tend to discuss this stuff with gamers who have very long experience of the hobby, and were already playing in their own ways before the Gumshoe system came along. What we seem to agree on is that there are good ideas in here, but possibly ideas that we prefer to transfer to systems we're more comfortable with.
