Mac Update
Jun. 20th, 2024 09:21 pmGot the 2015 MacBook Pro 12.1 I mentioned in my last post - it has a two-year warranty and the last one lasted about 14 years so hopefully I won't be worrying about this again for a while.
Currently transferring files from my 1TB Capsule box (not the little FireWire drive which can't be connected to a modern Mac) with an hour or so to go; fortunately the last backup was a couple of days before it the drive failed and I hadn't made any significant changes. Just praying it won't all go horribly wrong. Not the end of the world if it does, there shouldn't be any data there that isn't on the main box and I have the install disks etc. for anything I would need to reinstall, but it would be nice if I don't have to start from scratch and do it myself.
Showing just how out of date I am - I was thinking that the transfer would be faster with a wired connection, but of course modern Macs don't have those icky network sockets any more...
