My favourite chair just collapsed under me. It's been creaky for a while and I'd checked the legs etc. and couldn't find anything wrong. It turns out that it was the dowels that hold the actual seat together slowly breaking - so it broke in two, and I ended up on the floor on top of the wreckage. It has a broken seat, back, and so forth. Not repairable, but given it's 1950s utilities furniture I won't mourn it too much, there are plenty like it.
No injuries, fortunately, except I banged my thumb and it was bloody painful for a few minutes. Seems OK now so I don't think I broke anything.
Annoying part of all this is that I've lost 9kg dieting over the last few months. You'd think it would have happened while I was fatter!
