I've decided to try to write a "Five Crossover Drabbles That Never Happened to Lois and Clark" thingy. The first two are Space Oddity and Conversation in a Metropolis Parking Lot, here's the third, which is a Men in Black crossover.

100-word Lois and Clark / Men In Black crossover Drabble. All characters belong to their respective creators and are used without any intention of damaging copyright. This story may not be distributed on a profit-making basis.

The Short Career of Kal-El, Alias Clark Kent, Alias Superman

by Marcus L. Rowland

"There was a bomb," said Lois, pointing at Clark, "he ate it!"

The hatch opened, and two men in black suits boarded Prometheus.

"You blew it, Clark," said Agent J. "Why can't you just live inconspicuously like other aliens?"

"Clark??" said Lois.

"Sorry folks," said K, flashing everyone with his neuralyzer. "There was a mechanical failure, the launch is postponed. We weren't here."

He led Clark outside, J dragged Lois behind them.

"Try this hero crap again and your residency permit's revoked," said K.

Clark sulkily spun into street clothes and said "okay."

"And get rid of the silly costume..."

End

Hee!
Certainly explains the whole "why no one recognizes him as Superman" schtick.
I can imagine the conversation with J'onn J'onzz, or Braniac...heck, even Teal'c from Stargate!

Hee!

"Try this hero crap again and your residency permit's revoked," said K.

Bureaucracy really gets in the way of doing good, doesn't it?

Who actually applied for his residency permit, anyway? His adoptive parents presumably wouldn't have known about the MiB program and therefore couldn't have applied, while he was an infant. So one presumes that the MiB tracked him down sometime during his childhood and decided to leave him with the Kents. Would they explain the rules to him and neuralyze the Kents, or would the whole family know the secrecy requirements?

Also, what are the deportation rules exactly? They can't exactly send him back to his home planet...
