My plans for today have been somewhat derailed by London's first snow of the winter - I'm pretty sure that there won't be much happening at either of the car boot sales I meant to go to, and my sniffle is still bad enough that I'd prefer not to get too cold. So since I've got no pressing need to go out I'm taking the day off.

Messed up the tubes yesterday when I was trying to get to the Barbican at one o'clock.

During the afternoon at the Barbican, the featured composer was being interviewed and the interviewer thanked people for making it to the interview despite the snow. The composer gave a snort of derision. Esa-Pekka Salonen is from Helsinki and presumably knows real snow.

Sounds pretty much the way someone from New England, Buffalo NY, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana and Northern Idaho reacts to "Snowmaggedon" reports in the South. "What? 4 inches of snow? Ha!"

Of course, Alaskans snort at those of us from "northern US." when we complain about snow. Except for folks from the west coast of Michigan, Buffalo, and International Falls, MN. They get to laugh at everyone.
