jennyaxe, who has read all the Modesty Blaise books several times, informs me that there is more than enough murk around Modesty's early life that they perfectly well could.

She also notes that Modesty was more or less brought up by a guy who pretty well fits the Watcher stereotype, and that she is easily tough enough to be at least a Potential.

I think going the Potential route is a bit too easy - I'm thinking more in terms of MB as the long-lost Kalderash heir.

That woud be easy enough to do, Modesty's personal history being as obscure as it is and the gypsies being one of the populations targeted for extermination by the Nazis. And then there's Modesty's wanderlust; that seems like a stereotypical gypsy trait to me.

They certainly could be related and Buffy being ethnically a Gypsy would certainly fit both with her appearance and with her early history.

I had spotted an entirely different resemblance that I was going to use in my abandoned Buffy/Modesty crossover project; between Modesty and Kennedy.
