Microsoft have come up with a fix for the Windows Metafile vulnerability

May take a while to roll out automatically, but you can download it and run it for yourself:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/MS06-001.mspx

then choose the version of Windows you're using. It's a fairly fast download, under a meg.

Incidentally, Don't you think Bush looks tired? If you know where this is coming from, pass it along.

You know, that tired Bush thing is driving me mad. Obviously, I have no idea where it's coming from. Care to illuminate the oblivious or is this one of those inside joke things that's just not shared.

Okay - spoiler for the Dr. Who Xmas special

Towards the end of this episode the Doctor threatens that he can destroy a politician's career with a few words. Those are the words, with the name changed. By the end of the episode the politician is fighting to stay in office, because EVERYONE is saying it.

Ah. Much clearer. I was feeling particularly behind the race but if it's a Dr. Who thing, that explains it. I've not caught any of the new series. Thanks for explaining it.

As I said to [livejournal.com profile] yonmei, it's a silly meme: it works for Prime Ministers (who are probably hoping to be re-elected right up until they crawl off to sell their memoirs), but not for Presidents in their second term.

True, it's not going to overthrow Bush, but on the otherhand given the current lobbyist corruption scandal, and his already low numbers in the polls it could make the rest of his term in office uncomfortable. I've lost track but aren't there mid-terms soon? It could have an effect there... possibly... maybe...
