Another Jab

Had my second Covid jab today. Feeling fine so far, we'll see how it goes. Hoping I'll be well enough to get out and vote in the local government elections tomorrow, if I'd noticed the coincidence of dates I would have got a postal ballot to be on the safe side, but it's a bit late now. When I had the first dose I felt a bit queasy on day two but otherwise fine, hopefully this will be similar.

Got home to find a letter saying I've been randomly chosen to take part in an NHS periodic study - if I agree to participate they'll send me a Covid test kit, by testing several thousand people at intervals they'll get an idea of how it's spreading (if it still is). The down side of course is having to self-isolate if the test shows I have the virus, even if there are no symptoms. I think I'll join in, I think I'm better off knowing.

Definitely better off knowing.

Well done, getting the second dose!

Yippee on the second jab. Mine is booked for next week.

I guess the more people who volunteer, the better the data is for mapping the spread. When they were asking for surge test volunteers locally back in February, I did that (Negative). And I'm in the Biobank mass medical data study, so they recently sent me a finger prick test to check for Covid antibodies.

The finger result was I do have antibodies. Which is good news as it means my first Covid jab worked!

I had my second jab about a month ago and the only side effect was a slightly sore arm - felt like a bruise - the next day.

As I've probably said, my first jab was in hospital about a week after my operation when I still rather confused and seeing strange writing on the ceiling tiles in my room.

The poll clerk just reminded me, in case of medical emergency you can get a proxy up till 5 this afternoon, so if you can't make it, that might be an option.

I had my second AZ jab on Monday. The injection site is still sore and achy on Thursday. Monday I felt a bit blurry and sweaty, then overnight began to ache -- generalized muscle and joint aches like flu. (I'd walked about 5km to the vaccination centre and back, but this wasn't knees/legs; I had back and shoulder and arm pains, and a headache.) Tuesday night was the worst, and I'm gradually recovering. Definitely a worse reaction than to the first shot, but as I have elevated blood glucose/Type II diabetes, I'm totally happy about getting the risk reduction (catching the actual disease would be quite dangerous).

Hope you do better!

Good to hear it! Me and mine got our jabs last month, so we're now "fully vaccinated". Doesn't stop my spring sinus infections, which are still a recurring nuisance during pollen season, alas. At least I can stop panicking that the sinus infection might be Covid, this time...
