Weird lunchtime incident

I had a late lunch in a pancake place today - I was hungry and most of their meals are cheap on Mondays, so I thought why not.

When it was time to pay the bill the waiter told me that someone at another table, who left while I was eating, had already paid for me. And since I barely glanced that way I have no idea if it was someone I know (or who recognized me e.g. from my picture on this blog or my fanfic) who wanted to treat me, someone who thought I looked a bit impoverished (there's a small tear on the sleeve of the jacket I was wearing which I haven't got round to repairing or replacing), someone who was just in a good mood, or a case of mistaken identity. And since it's the first time in several months I've eaten there, and probably won't go back for another month or two, it's unlikely I'll ever find out.

Definitely not complaining, but it did feel a little weird....

Some years ago I was having a meal before a concert at the Huddersfield music festival. As it happened, several of the performers for the concert were on the table next to mine. I was eating on my own. When the bills came, I got the bill for the four performers and I got mine. They pointed this out to the staff before I'd looked at mine.
