The details for NS&I Green Bonds are now on line

https://www.nsandi.com/products/green-savings-bonds

It's 0.65% gross/AER, fixed for 3 years, with no withdrawals until the period ends, which isn't a wonderful deal but given the state of the economy isn't incredibly bad either. What worries me slightly is that the green projects they'll invest in are chosen by the government, with no input from customers etc. or feedback for at least the first couple of years.
Can someone who knows more about investments and green savings take a look and let me know what they think? I want to diversify my savings a bit, and move some money out of my current account, and low interest is better than no interest. Are there better alternatives?

See what Triodos have on offer.

They have some very good ethical investments that avoid all connections with the fossil fuel industry.

I've got quite a bit of money with them. It's shares, so not guaranteed to be save, but my rate of return over the last year has been good.

You don't need a massive amount to start with, either.

I chose them after reading reviews in Ethical Consumer magazine. They were one of the highest rated investments for environmental and social investing. (Highest as in best ethics, but you can also see the financial rate of return over time on their web site)

I also recommend Triodos (triodos.co.uk). The rates on their savings accounts are probably lower, but you don't have to tie your money up for three years, and they publish who they lend to.
