ffuturesCentral heating update... the boiler is toast. Very cold toast. The heat exchanger is leaking and dripping onto the circuitry, and neither can now be replaced, they're too old. This has been on the cards for some time, I already knew some parts were now unrepairable.
Fortunately my service contract will contribute towards the cost of a new one, and Baxi are going to get a local installer to survey my flat and give me a quote, so hopefully it won't take too long. Meanwhile the portable radiators and dressing warmly will keep me reasonably comfortable, and I can shower in the flat below when necessary, so it could be a lot worse.
