Picspam - Platinum Jubilee Flypast

Went down to Waterloo today and got some pictures of the flypast - not as spectacular as the RAF 100th anniversary a couple of years ago, but not bad.

Was there a Boeing Sentry? I'd have expected one to manage the air traffic.

No, nothing like that took part - of course it could have been a long way away from the main route of the flypast, but according to Wikipedia the British ones are currently operational on the fringes of the Ukraine invasion. There were Nimrods, don't know if they were active in air traffic control.

I wasn't aware the Sentries were in Eastern Europe. If there are NATO ones there too, that may account for the Ukrainian Air Force doing better than expected. I don't see Nimrods in your Flickr pictures: which frames are you thinking of?

Someone else there said Nimrod when some of the bigger planes flew over, but I can see they're different now I look. I'm not incredibly good at aircraft identification unless it's something obvious like the Battle of Britain flight!

Ah! It seemed unlikely, since the last Nimrods left service in 2011 as far as Wikipedia knows.
