Dec. 4th, 2022 10:18 pmNow finished the instruction book for the electric pentacle, I think. I've described the company that makes it as being a leading seller of quack medical and science equipment, healing lamps, etc. - does this seem like a good list to put on the back cover? Anything else I should be including? Or omitting? Yes, I know X-rays aren't precisely quack medicine, but I doubt there's much in the way of shielding in there...

And if you were wondering, all of the more dubious ones with two exceptions were offered by various sellers in issues of The Strand Magazine and others I checked - the exceptions were X-rays and N-rays, but the latter were so silly I just had to include them.

Extra things to think about adding:
A gadget to Electrically divine the sex of your unborn baby
Something that mentions Radium?

Date: 2022-12-05 06:19 pm (UTC)Also a good idea re power supplies - I can say a few words about the high-voltage power supplies they use, which are big induction coils, though I also talked about them in the instruction manual
Electrical divining sex - not something I've seen mentioned in any advert of the period and believe it or not I'm trying for authenticity.
Something that mentions radium - you mean like the first item on the list? Also, the company has radium in its name, the Radium Patent Light Company....
