Two repeat bundles for Advanced Fighting Fantasy, a British fantasy RPG by Steve Jackson (the British one) that began as a solo system for multi-choice game books and has expanded considerably since the 1980s.

Advanced Fighting Fantasy core rulebookThis Advanced Fighting Fantasy Bundle is the second revival of the March 2017 offer featuring the Arion Games FRPG based on the phenomenally popular Fighting Fantasy gamebooks by Steve Jackson (the British one) and Ian Livingstone. Originally published in 1989 as Dungeoneer along with several expansions, now available in a handsome 2011 Second Edition, Advanced Fighting Fantasy is a complete RPG set in the classic Fighting Fantasy world, with a fast and adaptable system ideal for beginners and well suited to long-term campaigns. (For more about AFF and the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, see the links below.)

This is one of two AFF offers now in progress. The revived June 2019 companion offer, More Fighting Fantasy, adds more supplements and adventures.

We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their ereaders.

Ten percent of each payment (after gateway fees) for this offer goes to the charity chosen by Arion Games owner Graham Bottley, the Yorkshire (UK) Air Ambulance. "In the area where I live it is a literal life saver," says Graham. "I very nearly needed it myself a few years ago, but it could not fly at night at that time. In the United Kingdom, these services are funded only by charities, and because there is a reasonable chance I may need it again, it is the main charity I support!"

Advanced Fighting Fantasy Titan supplementThe total retail value of the titles in this Advanced Fighting Fantasy revival is US$99. Customers who pay just US$7.95 get all four titles in this revived offer's Starter Collection (retail value $40) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including the Advanced Fighting Fantasy Second Edition core rulebook, the Heroes Companion: rules expansion, The Sorcery Spell Book (the grimoire from Steve Jackson's four-book Sorcery! gamebook series), and the monster book Out of the Pit.

Those who pay more than this revival's threshold (average) price, which is set at $19.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Bonus Collection with seven more titles worth an additional $59, including the full-length campaign Crown of Kings, the Beyond the Pit monster book, the Titan setting guide (plus the Titan Map), the Blacksand city book (and the Blacksand Map), and The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, a full-length RPG scenario based on the first and most famous Fighting Fantasy gamebook.

Advanced Fighting Fantasy supplement Return to the PitThis is one of two revivals now in progress featuring the Advanced Fighting Fantasy RPG from Arion Games based on the bestselling Fighting Fantasy gamebooks by Steve Jackson (UK) and Ian Livingstone. This June 2019 More Fighting Fantasy offer is a companion to our revived March 2017 Advanced Fighting Fantasy Bundle in progress. If you're new to the game, start there. This companion offer presents later supplements and adventures, three of which are new to this revival.

We provide each ebook complete in .PDF (Portable Document Format). Like all Bundle of Holding titles, these books have NO DRM (Digital Restrictions Management), and our customers are entitled to move them freely among all their ereaders.

Ten percent of each payment (after gateway fees) for this More Fighting Fantasy offer goes to the charity chosen by Arion Games owner Graham Bottley, CoppaFeel. "My wife was part of a team of 100 inspirational people who trekked through the Himalayas to raise money for the breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel," says Graham.

Advanced Fighting Fantasy Combat Companion supplementThe total retail value of the titles in this revived More Fighting Fantasy offer is US$92. Customers who pay just US$9.95 get all six supplements in this offer's Starter Collection (retail value $38) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks, including Rough Guide to the Pit (retail price $8), Demons of Doom (retail $10), The Titan Herbal (retail $8), and three short AFF adventures (retail $4 apiece): Crooked King's Cup, The Floating Dungeon of Varrak Aslur, and Inn of Lost Hope.

Those who pay more than this offer's threshold (average) price, which is set at $19.95 to start, also get this offer's entire Bonus Collection with six more titles worth an additional $54, including Return to the Pit (retail price $12); Travels in Arion (retail $8), plus a high-res Map of Arion (retail $3); and three recent supplements new in this revival: the Combat Companion (retail $8), Encyclopedia Arcana Vol I - Treasures (retail $14), and Citadel of Chaos (retail $12).

(Customers who bought this offer during its original June 2019 run get the three newly added titles automatically on their Wizard's Cabinet download page and in their linked DriveThruRPG Library. When you buy a Bundle of Holding early, you never worry about missing a title added later – even much later.)

Fighting Fantasy resources

In 2017 I said

this probably isn't my cup of tea, but it does look like you get a reasonable amount for your money, and a reasonably fun game world. But as usual YMMV.

And it's probably time for me to ask again if people mind these turning up on their friends page?

In 2019 I added

This is a game that doesn't really interest me much, but it has a good track record and still has fans. It's basically a 30-year-old system but it has simple rules, as befits its origins, and isn't nearly as clunky as many of its rivals from the same period. Having said that, some players may find it over-simplistic, especially when dealing with anything other than combat. If you bought the 2017 offering you'll probably want More Fighting Fantasy, if you don't have either you may want to think about whether you really want another fantasy game...

I think that all of this still applies - including the bit about the friends page. Hopefully putting most of it in cuts helps...

I for one appreciate your thoughts on each offer, since you get to see more than just the blurb. Our tastes are not identical but it's certainly helped me to decide whether to go for various things over the years. These days I'm trying not to get things just for nostalgia, given how many unused bundles I already have!
