ffutures: Flatland map (Flatland)

Here's the current table of contents for The Original Flatland RPG. Bold is chapter headings, everything else is sections of chapters, italic is notes that aren't in the TOC. This is all in small caps on the page, apologies that it comes out as all caps here. Can't be arsed to change it.

Not listed but will be in the final PDF
Advert for Forgotten Futures and Diana Warrior Princess - 1 page

So... does this look like a reasonable order for chapters? I'm reasonably happy with the game side of things, but everything after the adventure outlines and before the ads and back cover could really go in almost any order.

Here's another Flatlander - 'Scarside' Al Gebra, the notorious gangster

Looks reasonable to me. I like "Scarside".

Well, he obviously can't be "scarface" ;-)

nice usage of the variant on AlGebra - kinda reminds me of Al-Qaeda.

Looking forward to getting a mention in the book for that name lol

if the book is coming out only a pdf then the cut-out flatlanders will suffice, but obviously if there is a printed then it can be perforated.

Certainly I feel Flatland has the potential to be the most visual of any role-playing game I have ever seen, with maps, cut outs and visual displays as much as possible.

Im hoping there will be adequate downloads and scenario support which will ensure a steady supply of cut-outs and fun stuff.

I doubt that there'll ever be a printed game - it's a niche market project with minority appeal, and publishing a book with colour illustrations on most pages costs big bucks. As for supplements etc., this is a charity project and I'm not going to be making any money from it, so I'm not going to be able to give it huge amounts of support. That'd take time I'll need for writing stuff that will help pay the bills, though I might add more material if inspiration strikes. Needless to say others are free to write for it and produce additional material - if it's any good I'll see about putting together another download, also for charity.

Funnily enough you're not the first to have thought of it - it's one of the first names that was suggested when I put the original game together eight years ago!

I recall Forgotten Futures was the first shareware and charity role-playing product to be released.

If it just a charity product, I hope your regular job pays well enough lol.

Not really, but what's that got to do with it? I'm doing it because I can, and because it's fun.

And there was at least one earlier charityware RPG supplement - 101 cargoes (I think that's the right title) from BITS, the British Isles Traveller Society.

sorry, that last comment of mine came out wrong.

what I meant was if you you are releasing all of your products for charity, then seeing as you are writing for the love of it, you'll need a more profitable source of income.

I have always been in awe of your contributions over the years, especially to White Dwarf amongst others.

I'm not giving everything to charity - it's 10% for Forgotten Futures, nothing for Diana (though I did pay the artists by making charity donations), and everything for Flatland. But I can't afford to do that more than once in a long while.
