Out of scale
May. 22nd, 2006 05:30 pmI just printed out a set of the larger Flatland character pictures on OHP foils and they look pretty good - the colour is dense enough that they will be easy to see on a white background, but they're transparent enough to make it apparent just how thin they are.
Of course when I use them I'll have to point out that they are grossly out of scale - they're about 50,000 times too thick! The thickness of the toner is a bit better, but even that's probably several hundred atoms thick. Oh well, if they were really one atom thick I'd never be able to handle them...

Date: 2006-05-23 11:29 am (UTC)But one thing I may do is offer a ready-made set of Flatland miniatures pre-printed on acetate for a suitable fee... - making them would be comparatively expensive in time and materials (colour toner is pricy) but postage would be cheap (especially if I cut them rathr than sending them in sheets) and they'd really blow the mind of any customs man who happened to open the envelope!
Then there's armies for the wargamers... you could get 20 or 30 really narrow isosceles onto one sheet of acetate. I've got someone looking at the possibility of including basic miniatures rules as part of the game, it's certainly something to consider.
