I've just watched the DVD, and I was bowled over by it. It isn't a faithful re-creation of the comic in every detail, but it works and works well. VERY strongly recommended.

I saw that just a couple of days ago myself. Was hugely impressed. Updating it for a modern world worked perfectly, and just, everything about it was pitch perfect.

I remain very cross with the movie reviewers who did so much to bury this very important movie, that really, everybody should have seen.

(I might add that the only real complaint I had was that I wanted there to have been more of the 1812 overture in it.)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Alan Moore needs to shut the hell up.

I agree it's a good movie and the updating workd. Equally i can see why it annoed Moore so much. The comic is a very british thing, a british dstopia and the movie is really about America. Equally moores story is a fight between Anarchy and Facisum- thats left and right. Oh - and the love story element. Blurj terrible. Utter;y terrible.

I agree they took the love story too far - I always liked the possibility that V was Valerie, and they pretty much ruled that one out.

John and I caught it on the big screen in manchester with a sound system that made the floor shake durring the things blowing up scenes - it was awsome. Having watched the DVD I'm glad we saw it big - some of the really pretty bits don't come across so well small.

John has a theory about Moore not having his name associated - its not V as such but they whole victory comics era and the fact he once wrote a superhero that he is trying to forget it.

Yes, it does look like one that would have worked better on a really big screen - maybe I'll take it in to work and play it on the projector in one of the labs.

Do it.
And get a base speaker and lay it face down on the floor...

I've got a home cinema amp and speaker setup here but because I'm in an upstairs flat I've never bought a big subwoofer. I suspect that this is a film that would benefit from it. Maybe if I watch it during the day...
