A strange idea I had, not a crossover for once. Very AU for Buffy from Bargaining onwards. Willow makes a mistake casting her resurrection spell...

100-word BtVS Drabble, VERY AU. All characters belong to their respective creators and are used without any intention of damaging copyright. This story may not be distributed on a profit-making basis.

Warrior of the People

By Marcus L. Rowland

"...Accept our offering. Know our prayer. Osiris, raise the warrior of the people..."

Willow coughed, retched and vomited another snake. Before she could continue there was a roar of engines and the biker demons arrived. The Urn of Osiris shattered, and the magic was gone.

Hours later, as Sunnydale burned, Willow said "Something took the magic. Why isn't Buffy here?"

"You made a mistake," said Tara. "It wasn't quite what we rehearsed. Something took the power, but it wasn't Buffy."

"Then what was it?"

In Bolivia an unmarked grave opened. Che Guevara was back, and this time he was mad...

End

Damn, just took another a look at the Wikipedia article on Che, and realised that his grave was in fact found and his body returned to Cuba in 1997, five years before Bargaining. "In Cuba an ornate mausoleum opened..." doesn't have the same ring somehow, so I'm going to assume that it never happened...

Comments please before I post to archives.

Later note: Just realised that there is a problem with this as written - please see inside the cut after the story for details if you read it before I posted the correction.

What about having it be Wolfie Smith instead of Che? I know he didn't die in the series but he might have done afterwards. In a cemetery in Tooting a grave opened...

Thanks, both of you, but I think I'll leave it as Che, with a footnote similar to the one I posted. I don't think Wolfie has quite the same instant recognition factor somehow....

Speaker, any chance of Olaf ending up with The Young Ones?

Or Olaf / Citizen Smith could be fun too, of course.
