Incidentally, have you ever watched Regenesis? It seems as if that might be something you'd like. It's yet another show that's not airing where I can see it, but I ran into their scientific advisor at a meeting last month.
I think I saw a preview episode at an SF con, to be honest it didn't seem incredibly original or interesting - rhey're recycling ideas that have been around for a long time.
