Quite enjoyed last night's Dr. Who spinoff, the opening episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures. So I thought I'd try to get in nice and early with some fanfic. Lots of spoilers! BtVS crossover Drabble...

"It's about your son," said the American girl. "You know he's not real, don't you?"
"He's...?" said Sarah Jane Smith.
"No navel, and you faked his adoption records."
"What are you suggesting?"
"He's a magical construct. Maybe you wished for him, maybe a spell put him there. But he's not real."
"Magical?" she said incredulously.
"I'm here to help," said the girl. "It happens a lot, people get into these things then run into problems. We've set up a support group for the families."
"Without admitting anything," said Sarah Jane, "perhaps I'd better have some contact details, miss...?"
"Summers. Dawn Summers."

Date: 2007-01-02 09:36 pm (UTC)Long ago in Marvel comics, the Scarlet Witch married the Vision who was a robot. Somehow they had children, mainly due to a usage of the Scarlet Witch's power to alter probabilities. These twins were later on revealed to apparently be not real, to actually be missing parts of a big demon, and were promptly ret-conned away. The Scarlet Witch incidentally went a little nuts over this, but seemed to fully recover.
About 2-3 years ago, someone innocently reminded Wanda of her kids, and she went totally bug-shit nuts and basically ripped the Avengers apart, causing at least 2 deaths, the destruction of Avengers mansion and the disbanding of the Avengers. For an encore, she used her probability powers to change the entire world to one where mutants ruled, and for the show stopping finale, put everything back and promptly wiped out most of the mutant population around the whole world.
Oh, and her kids? Have since appeared in a current book called Young Avengers.
To put it mildly, some fans are not happy.

Date: 2007-01-03 01:38 am (UTC)My DSL connection has been down since Boxing Day, and with everyone on vacation this time of year it's taking forever to get it working again. So I'm limited to modem speeds, and I haven't been able to download the latest Torchwood, or the Sarah Jane Adventures, yet.

I certainly encourage you to take this beyond a drabble.
