I didn't say much about my bike problems (graduallly escalating defects that ended with a failed MOT, and repaired remarkably fast all things considered) because it really didn't seem very interesting.

I haven't posted anything about the long saga of the faulty washer-dryer (purchased in February, broke down just before Easter, called in to the service people just after Easter (because I was travelling over Easter and didn't have TIME to organise anything before I left) and so not eligible for immediate replacement, visited four times by so-called service engineers who appear to be unable to do anything except swap motherboards, flooded the kitchen twice, and finally replaced today) because it's even more boring.

I will just say that I really thought that when the washing machine was replaced my run of bad luck would be over.

Except that an hour ago I went into the back room and found that a pigeon had got in through a window that was open about 4" and crapped all over one of the armchairs.

Certain deities need to understand that buggering about with my life will really not make me love them. Even if it is funny...

Oh dear, oh dear... sorry to hear it. My girlfriend and I were just talking about pigeons. I told her that I have vowed the next time a pigeon craps on me, I am going straight to Chinatown to eat one and therefore restore the karmic balance! :)

We leave the back door open a lot so the dogs can come in and out and one day discovered house wrens trying to next in my office. How often do you have to have housewren visitors before they decided that they're welcome on a long term basis? Dunno, but the dogs were seriously falling down on their watch-pet duties. The only reason we found them is because they crapped on our armchair. What is it with wild birds and lawnchairs?

I wish - I can think of a few people I would love to point either or both of them at...

It's not a lawn chair, unfortunately, but a proper armchair. Fortunately it seems to have vacuumed off fairly well.

Why they do it is presumably that it's a high perch compared to the surrounding terrain so they can sit there and take a crap without predators sneaking up on them.

We never used to get many pigeons in our gardens around here, but there's a house down the road that's going to be demolished and has a lot of broken windows, and they're now flying in and out all the time and have presumably got the idea that houses are hollow.

I meant armchair. I have no idea why I typed lawn chair. *rattles brain* Mine were building a nest on my ceiling molding. You'd think that would be high enough...
