For some reason my wifi-fu is sadly lacking, especially when it comes to Windows ME.

Briefly, I've installed the drivers etc. for the Cisco card on the Jornada and it's working. No doubt about that, since I can access the router and network hard disk setup menus by entering the correct IP addresses. HOWEVER, I can't access anything by other means, e.g. when I enter http://hermione for the network drive, instead of the IP address, it can't find it. This also applies to URLs for sites which are working when I try them from other computers.

Presumably something is wrong in the way URLs are being handled, I just have no idea what.

Any suggestions?

Later If I ping sites from another computer and enter the IP address into the Jornada it can access them, so it's definitely working and connecting to the internet. Trouble is that every link is another address, so this is not much use for practical browsing.

SOunds like a DNS problems somewhere. Have you tried hard-coding the DNS settings?

Not yet, not really sure how to do it.

Further to this, just pinged the Forgotten Futures site and used the IP address on the Jornada, that worked too, so it's definitely something screwed up in the way that addresses are interpreted.

Trouble is I'm using WM6 here, and my older devices are all away... I suspect it'll be in the driver settings on the device, or in the Windows CE networking settings.

Should be in Ip configuration under network settings, but my CE is weak.

Other devices apart from the Jornada are resolving to Ip addresses correctly, yes?

The trouble is that if I try to mess about with this it says that the changes won't be recognised until I take the card out and put it in again, then doesn't work at all when I do that, even after a reset. I have to reinstall the drivers before it'll recognise the card again.

It's normally at this point that I give up and retreat into sarcasm.

I decided to give up and sell the card, made a modest profit.
