The wonderful carnival people have their amps and speakers set up high enough that the windows of this room are vibrating loudly on certain notes. I think that shortly I will move to the back room, and play DVDs or something since I'm not going to get more work done in here...

How many more hours until you can register a noise complaint?

I've had that occassioanlly (loud noise from civic events), but usually the problem is my neighbours -- lass than 10% of them, but they make more noise than everyone else combined…

It's the Notting Hill Carnival, and 500,000 people or so are allegedly enjoying it. Short of an actual riot going on the authorities will do bugger all.

I would imagine "local resident asks carnival to 'turn it down a bit'" would also make a happy headline for the Daily Mail or some such...

Has the noise stopped yet?

It stopped around eleven or so last night, apart from some moron letting off fireworks at about 4 AM, I'd imagine it'll be about the same tonight.

In fact the music stopped about 9.30 or so tonight, still hearing a lot of noise in the street (people headed home etc., a lot of them blowing plastic trumpets since it was children's day today) but it's gradually dying down.
