This one looks OK on screen and on paper - I can't get a black edge to the letters from within Word, but it's VERY clear and I think not too blaah.

Forgot to add the following;

Though the white makes the lettering pop, I think they'd look better in black with a white edge, which you can acheive using the Word Art options in Word. Also, I much prefer the first font you used.

Trouble is that the first font really doesn't stand out well against the background at the sizes I need to use, regardless of colour - it isn't quite chunky enough. I'm not very keen on Word Art, it just isn't very versatile, but I am looking at doing the text in another program and trying to import it - or merge in a separate page for the front cover, which I think Acrobat can do.
