Professor Richard Dawkins is allegedly going to star as himself in this season's Doctor Who. And this is interesting because, amongst other claims to fame, he's married to Lalla Ward (Romana II). We can always hope...

I wonder what he'd make of the Doctor As Jesus theme in the show.
And yes, I hope Anthony Head's appearance doesn't totally rule him out of the running. Heard Eddie Izzard had been commenting the other day that he'd really like to be the Doctor too.
Got an appointment this afternoon.

Date: 2008-04-21 09:59 am (UTC)I personally (with apologies to the man's fans) can't see any logical reason for giving him any more than that. He isn't an actor, as far as I know (nope, just checked). What he is is a well-known face, a celebrity, and we all know how RTD loves to show off his famous friends....but unless the episode is going to be "Doctor Who discovers that God doesn't exist and hacks off half his audience" I shouldn't think Dawkins will be on screen for more than thirty seconds at most.
On the other hand, of course, this is nuWho, so logic's on fairly shaky ground anyway...I guess we'll see.
