Blakes Seven?

I've seen two or three reports now that Sky are planning to remake Blakes Seven.

Not 100% sure that it's a good idea, but if someone had asked me if remaking Galactica was a good idea a few years ago I would have been 100% sure it wasn't.

The important question, of course, is who will be playing my fave babe Servalan.

Funny you should mention BSG in connection with Blake's Seven, given that Sky co-funds BSG (which is naturally why the season 4 eps are showing up on Sky only 4 days after their American showings).

It does strike me a lot like they're trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice.

Also, the BBC have taken on 'Being Human' for another six episodes, so I'm happy about that too :-)

Exactly my response. It is Avon who matters most. Get him wrong and the whole thing won't work, in my view. Get him right, and I'll be signing up for Sky. Hmm... the tricky thing is, how can find out enough information on the show in advance so I make sure I have Sky access ready for episode 1 if appropriate? Lots of web-monitoring, I expect.

The thought of someone making B7 as much darker than the original as the new BSG is, is kind of scary.

I'm fairly sure it isn't. B7 came from a different sensibility, one that I don't think we can recapture. It would end up being to the original as the new Robin Hood is to Robin of Sherwood.

Oh, and Sophia Myles, probably. She seems to be doing everything else. With Barrowman as Blake.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet any remake they do of B7 will bare more than a few passing similiarities to BSG. :)

It was quite far into the first season before I thought that remaking Galactica was a good idea.

Really great things should not be remake fodder.

Mediocre things should be fair game.

Really bad things are probably best left alone.

Where B7 lies is a matter of your opinion.
