My first shot at one of the odder spaceships described by Weinbaum; a "triangle" ship as used by the female leads of The Red Peri and The Black Flame

I think it's a given of the Weinbaumverse that anyone who turns up with a ship looking anything like this is (a) female, (b) up to no good and (c) about to fall in love with the hero. I'm not sure I'll bother writing a rule for that, though.

Tetrahedron!

(OK, you did put quotes around "triangle")

Weinbaum calls the one in The Black Flame a triangle at least four or five times.

Well, a tetrahedron would look triangular from any aspect. :)

Then I direct my spleen at him, not you.

Interesting. What did you use for this?

Caligari Truespace 3D, a Windows modelling package - you can get this version from their web site as a free download - then added the exhaust, stars and windows in Paintshop Pro. I could have done the windows in Truespace, but it isn't the easiest program in the world to use so I try to keep things simple. I'll do deck plans in Corel. The problem with Truespace is that I don't own anything else that can read the files, with the possible exception of the program on the Taschen 3D graphics art CDs, though I think some other 3D modelling programs can use the format, and I find Truespace controls to be very counter-intuitive.

Actually it looks like the free version now on line is a MUCH later version than the one I have installed. Even more cryptic than the old one!

Wow, Caligari is still around? I remember it being *the* 3D renderer for the Amiga 20 years ago.
Nicely done indeed!
