The aliens in Weinbaum's SF are nothing like any figure range I'm aware of. I'll be including pictures for cutout paper figures in the next Forgotten Futures release, of course, but a lot of people prefer something more solid. I suspect it isn't worth any figure manufacturer's while to make them commercially.

It occured to me last night that it might be nice to include instruction files (or whatever they're called) for some sort of raspid prototyping fabrication machine, so that people can make their own 3D models if they have access to the hardware.

The trouble is that I know nothing about this - I can probably scratch-build prototype models for someone else to scan (or whatever it involves), but that's about where my knowledge ends. I have no idea how big the files are, how universal they are, or anything else that might be useful. Here are some examples of the aliens, think of each as a 30mm or so tall figure - probably some simplification needed. There would be maybe ten or so different designs, three examples behind the cut.

Anyone got any thoughts on how practical this might be?

Can't comment about how generic 3d prinrt basic files are, but areyou aware of

http://www.shapeways.com/

Which is a sort of 3D POD service.

That's interesting - I'll have to take a look when I'm not at work.
