Ever since I bought a cheapo DAB radio I've been annoyed that there was a sort of gargling noise sometimes when it was playing music, which I put down to it being a cheap piece of s***.

Today I finally thought of moving it a couple of feet further away from my PC. And suddenly the the noise has gone.

Should I pleased that I finally worked this out, or annoyed that it's taken me nearly a year?

I almost replaced a TV once because the picture had gone all purple; I moved the speakers away to get at the thing, and, lo, the purple went away. I'd say just be pleased. It's a good story.

That happens more than you might think - one of the reasons why old-style CRT computer monitors have degauss buttons is that people kept putting speakers next to them and screwing up the picture.

My cell phone causes my Mac's speakers to whine when it rings. So now it sits near the TV. Strange Days indeed.

I've moved it from about 3ft to about 5 ft away. What I think this does is reduce the interference sufficiently that the radio can keep up with the signal - the gargling noises were a sign that it was missing significant chunks.

Be relieved that the little man in the speaker's throat has improved, so that he doesn't have to use the medicated gargle as often.

Maybe a tube of throat lozenges would help ? Digitise and transmit.
