Never in a million years. Unless Moffat makes a complete U-turn from RTD's production style, he's too old and too posh for the demographic they're aiming for. I'd accept him, but it'll never happen.

Look I like ASH, esp in Merlin, but he's already played a part on Doctor Who. It would simply feel wrong for him to start playing the Doctor, esp. since he played a major part and not just a walk on role.

It wouldn't be the first time the same character has played a villain in one story and the Doctor later. His character in school reunion was very different from e.g. Giles, and the character he played in Spooks was barely recognizable as the same actor.
