I knew that Donald Westlake was writing as Richard Stark again. I even thought I was reasonably up to date with his books. But I just checked, and I've missed one, and there's another that's only just come out.

Cries of "It must be mine!" and some hasty purchases on Amazon ensue.

I need to read more stuff by Westlake/Stark. I read one of his Parker novels (Comeback), and really enjoyed it.

If you read a lot of crime fiction, may I humbly ask for recommendations? I've read quite a bit of Elmore Leonard, some James Ellroy, George Pelecanos, Richard Price, and one novel by Dennis Lehane (A Drink Before The War), and I'm always looking for more good crime stories.

Robert Parker - the Spenser series especially. A bit over-sentimental sometimes but pretty good.

Westlake / Stark is wonderful for the really hard-boiled crime stories. See especially the early Parker stories such as Point Blank; I think it's never gone out of print since it was published. As Westlake his comedy crime novels are pretty good.

Some Joseph Wambaugh.

A lot of John D. McDonald, although some of the background may seem a little dated now.
